Socio –economic transformation through Self Help Groups:
Women empowerment is a process in which women challenge the existing norms effectively promote their well-being. The SHGs have had greater impact on both economic and social aspects of the beneficiaries. The changes in the values and attitude of the members of the SHGs are a clear manifestation of socio –economic empowerment yielding quicker results. SHGs not only change the outer form of a community or a society but also the social institutions as well as ideas of the people living in the society.
Self Help group programme is MVP’s flagship programme.

SHG is a simple yet effective way of reaching out and connecting with rural poor women. Nurturing SHGs of rural women is MVP’s key tool in fulfilling its mission and goals. MVP works for the women in a number of ways: provide guidance; give support and assistance to women; and identify and promote home-based enterprises.
As a result of MVP’s intervention efforts, an increasing number of rural families – especially women – are engaging in independent livelihood activities. These activities serve as opportunities for diversifying and enhancing their incomes.
